A page can have a featured image, a separate social image, or an automatic fallback that you have not reviewed. Checking each page individually takes time. Image Audit brings those images together so you can find gaps, review repeated images and decide what needs updating.
A clearer view of your image setup
Compare images side by side
See the WordPress featured image alongside the first Open Graph image supplied by Yoast SEO.
Find missing images

Review reused images
Spot pages and posts sharing the same Open Graph image and check whether that reuse is intentional.

Go straight to the editor
Search by title or URL, filter by content type and open the relevant page or post to make changes.
How it works
- Open Image Audit. After installing and activating the plugin, go to Sherpa Plugins → Image Audit in WordPress.
- Find what needs a closer look. Browse the image pairs or use search and filters to focus on missing images, reused social images or site defaults.
- Edit the original content. Follow the edit link to update the featured image or Yoast social settings, then refresh Image Audit to review the current assignments.
Built for regular website reviews
Useful for site owners, marketing teams and WordPress agencies reviewing a new website, refreshing service pages or checking a large content library. The gallery covers published pages, posts and portfolio entries using the WordPress project post type.
A private, read-only audit
The audit is available to administrators inside WordPress. It reads image assignments without changing your content. Image replacements are made in the normal page or post editor.

Frequently asked questions
Does it need Yoast SEO?
Featured image checks use WordPress data. Open Graph image checks use Yoast SEO's API, so Yoast SEO is required for those checks. If Yoast data cannot be read, the gallery reports that limitation.
Will the gallery update when I change an image?
It reads current image assignments whenever you open or refresh the audit. Social networks may keep their own cached previews, so a change in WordPress does not immediately refresh a preview already stored by a social platform.
Does the plugin replace or optimise images?
No. It helps you review image assignments. Use the page or post editor to make changes; the plugin does not compress, resize or replace images.
Is a reused image or site default always a problem?
No. Reusing a brand image can be intentional, and a site default can be a useful fallback. These filters help you review those choices rather than treating them as automatic errors.
Who can access Image Audit?
The plugin requires the WordPress manage_options capability, normally held by administrators. The audit is not a public gallery on your website.
