Sherpa Managed Documents lets your team replace PDFs and other files without breaking the links already used across your website, emails and external resources.
Update the file, not every link
When a policy, guide, form or report changes, the usual WordPress workflow creates a new upload URL. That can leave old versions circulating and force your team to find and replace links throughout the site. Sherpa Managed Documents keeps one permanent public URL and the same Media Library attachment ID while the file itself is updated.
Permanent URLs
Keep the same public URL and attachment ID when a document is replaced, so existing links continue to work.
Readable names
Give every managed document a clear name that is independent of the uploaded filename.
Version history
See who uploaded each version, when it changed and which file is currently published.
Private rollback
Optionally retain previous versions in private storage and restore an earlier version when needed.
Copy the right URL
Copy the permanent document URL from the dashboard and use it confidently in pages, posts, emails and buttons.
Team permissions
Control which users can manage documents and which users are allowed to restore previous versions.
How it works
- Add a document. Upload a new file or select an existing file from the searchable, sortable Media Library list.
- Copy its permanent URL. Use that address anywhere the document needs to be linked.
- Publish future versions. Upload the replacement from Managed Documents; the public URL and attachment ID remain unchanged.

Safe, focused management
Sherpa Managed Documents works with local, non-image files in the WordPress Media Library. Replacement files must use the same extension, helping prevent accidental format changes. Uninstall data is preserved by default, with an explicit setting when permanent removal is required.
WordPress.org submission
Sherpa Managed Documents has been submitted to the WordPress.org Plugin Directory and is currently awaiting review. The official directory link will be added here once the plugin is approved.
