A website rebuild, a new service structure or an outdated dropdown can leave you with a long list of menu items to remove. Sherpa Menu Cleanup adds focused controls to the classic menu editor so you can remove one link or a whole branch.
For example, if you are replacing an old Services dropdown, you can remove its parent and nested links together while keeping the next menu section in place. Removing a navigation link does not delete the page or post it points to.
Practical tools for menu maintenance
Remove individual links
Remove a single menu item using WordPress's own removal controls. Its child links follow the normal WordPress behaviour.
Remove complete branches
Clear a parent link and all its nested children together, with confirmation before removal begins.
Keep neighbouring items
Branch removal follows menu depth so adjacent links and unrelated branches stay in the editor.
Review before saving
Removals are applied when you click Save Menu. Reload without saving to discard unsaved editor changes.
Accessible controls
Keyboard-accessible buttons and status feedback help you work through menu changes.

- Choose what to remove. Use Remove for one link, or Remove branch for an item and its nested children.
- Confirm the branch. Check the confirmation and number of items before proceeding.
- Review and save. Check the remaining navigation, then click Save Menu to apply the changes.
Built for people who maintain WordPress websites
Sherpa Menu Cleanup suits site owners, website managers and agencies working with classic WordPress navigation menus. It is useful when restructuring dropdowns, retiring sections or cleaning up menus after a redesign.
Access follows WordPress's theme-editing permission. The plugin adds its controls only in the classic menu editor and includes the shared Sherpa Tools dashboard.
Compatibility and installation
This release works with classic navigation menus. It does not edit Navigation blocks in the Site Editor or remove WordPress administration menu items.
Install the supplied ZIP through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, then activate it. When upgrading from a version before 2.0.2, deactivate and delete the previous plugin copy first because the installation folder has changed. Your saved WordPress menus remain intact.
Test on staging before using it on a production site. Live WordPress integration testing of this release is still pending.

Will it delete the linked pages or posts?
No. It removes navigation links from the menu, leaving their linked content intact.
What happens to child links if I remove only the parent?
The single-item Remove control uses WordPress's normal behaviour and keeps the child links. Choose Remove branch to include all nested children.
Can I undo changes before saving?
Reload the editor without saving to discard unsaved changes. This also discards any other unsaved menu edits. After saving, removed links need to be added again.
Does it work with the Site Editor?
It works with the classic navigation menu editor. Navigation blocks in the Site Editor are managed separately.
Can I use it alongside other Sherpa plugins?
Yes. It integrates with the shared Sherpa Tools dashboard used by participating Sherpa Digital plugins.
