Sherpa Digital Tiered Shipping for WooCommerce lets you charge different shipping prices based on the number of physical items in a shipping package. Create two to five tiers for each shipping zone method, including free shipping for larger orders.
Simple shipping rules, clear quantity ranges
Choose the minimum item quantity and shipping price for each tier. The plugin applies the price from the highest qualifying minimum, giving customers one shipping charge per package. Use it to offer bulk shipping discounts, cover larger-order delivery costs, or introduce free shipping above a quantity threshold.

An example for an Australian store
With three tiers, you could offer the following prices. These are examples in AUD, excluding tax; set prices that suit your delivery costs.

Three units of one physical product count as three items. In this example, that package receives an $8 shipping charge.
How to set it up
- Install and activate. WooCommerce must be installed and active. Open Sherpa Plugins > Tiered Shipping for the setup guide.
- Choose your shipping zone. Click Open WooCommerce shipping settings, then edit a zone or create one for the regions you deliver to.
- Add the method. Click Add shipping method, select Sherpa Digital Tiered Shipping, then click Edit beside the new method.
- Set your tiers. Choose a checkout label, tier count, increasing minimum quantities, shipping prices and tax status. Save changes.
- Test checkout. Use an address in the zone and check quantities below, at and above each threshold.
For stores with quantity-based delivery costs
A practical fit when shipping prices follow item quantities rather than order value or weight. Set different rules for local, regional or interstate delivery zones.
Focused on shipping prices
The plugin provides fixed quantity-based prices. It does not provide live carrier quotes, weight rules or shipping labels. Other enabled shipping methods remain available unless you disable them in the zone.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I change the shipping prices?
Edit the Sherpa Digital Tiered Shipping method under WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Shipping zones. The Sherpa Plugins > Tiered Shipping page provides the setup guide and a link to those zones.
What is new in version 1.2.2?
Tiered Shipping now appears under Sherpa Plugins, alongside your other Sherpa tools. Version 1.2.2 includes the shared dashboard 1.4.0, with the installed plugin version and counts of configured shipping methods, enabled methods and zones using Tiered Shipping. All prices and quantity tiers are still configured in WooCommerce shipping zones. These counts describe saved configuration; they do not confirm that checkout rates have been tested.
Is the price charged for each item?
No. One price applies to the whole shipping package. If another extension splits an order into multiple packages, each package is counted and charged separately.
Can I offer free shipping?
Yes. Enter zero as the price for a tier. That price applies once the package reaches its minimum quantity.
How does shipping tax work?
Enter shipping prices excluding tax. Select Taxable or None for the method. WooCommerce applies tax using your store’s shipping tax settings.
Why is the shipping option missing?
Check that the cart contains a physical product, the address matches the intended zone, and Sherpa Digital Tiered Shipping is added and enabled in that zone. WooCommerce uses the first matching zone.
Are existing settings retained when upgrading?
Existing prices, thresholds and checkout labels are retained. The update from version 1.0 changes quantity counting to physical items per package, so mixed carts and split shipments can use different tiers. Review and test your existing rules before updating a live store.
